Last weekend, several of our nursing students at Goldfarb School of Nursing at Barnes-Jewish College volunteered at the St. Louis Open Streets event held in The Grove neighborhood.
Open Street events features several miles of traffic-free roads, with the goal of encouraging cyclists and pedestrians to be active as they explore a distinct neighborhood in the city.
For their community health group project, our students joined forces with the Herbert Hoover Boys & Girls Club to organize “Hopscotch to Health and Sports Challenge,” which promotes physical activity. Visitors playing hopscotch could find out more information on various health topics. Flush from winning the World Series, even Fred Bird stopped by the event and played a little hopscotch!
