Today was Nurse Practitioner Seminar Day at Goldfarb School of Nursing at Barnes-Jewish College.
The event was sponsored by Barnes-Jewish Hospital and the U.S. Air Force. We had speakers from the community talk to our incoming nurse practitioner graduate students about various topics including: nurse practitioner scope of practice, interviewing techniques for nurse practitioner jobs, and evaluating patients for coumadin use.
Dr. Judy Smith, associate professor and a gero-psych nursing specialist, presented on how to perform functional assessments on older adults.
The last topic of the day was suturing. Ginger Behrhorst, adult nurse practitioner and adjunct faculty at the college, presented a video on suturing. Then our students got to practice on chicken thighs!

Can’t wait to join in the fun, hoping to be part of the next ACNP class:)
Good luck, Jamie – let me know! :)
